DINGS CRUSADERS 1st and 2nd XV v BARGOED RFC
Final Score: DINGS 34 BARGOED 19
Half time Score: DINGS 29 BARGOED 0
MATCH REPORT:
Steans men ran out onto the Shaftesbury Park pitch with that steely determination still there from last season. Faces new and old on the park showed pace, presence and power, taking the game to Bargoed who had little time on the ball in the first 15 minutes.
Captain George Boulton playing out of his usual centre position, took control of the game from 10, easily converting Dings 1st from a flying Ollie Smith. Then finding a perfect 5m line out from a subsequent penalty shortly after.
Solomon Taufa looking strong again and with some dazzling feet from Harry Tarling, taking players with him at pace, the interplay putting Taufa in for his first displaying the trademark roll.
Will Thompson was incredible in defence as the Bargoed machine started to rumble in their red zone, despite losing centre Gethin O’Callaghan to the bin, Dings put in an incredible defensive set to hold out the visitors constant barrage.
O’callaghan returns and immediately scores through Tarling and Taufa, and immediately after, Sam Moreton Smith linking through ever present Tarling sends Taufa in for his 3rd and the end of the half.
The second half saw an almost full change for the Dings side as Bargoed hit the ground running.
Some incredible interplay, and soft penalties from Dings saw the visitors score sheet start to climb.
Their impressive 9 played the park well and set up both Dylan Williams and James Leadbeater as their assault on the park continued.
Open play returned to Dings as the clock approached 80, with Ezra Caven sealing the deal at the death 34 points to 19
