Getting to know Josh Lloyd

Dings Lad30 Dec 2013 - 08:58

Welcome to the forth addition of Getting To Know. It’s a chance to get to know some of the players, legends, characters and old farts of Dings

Getting to know: Mr Joshua Lloyd

Name: Josh Lloyd

Nicknames: Lloydy, Lloyd dog

Position: Tight Head Prop

Previous clubs: Had a spell for Mahurangi whilst living in New Zealand

Representative Honours: Bristol Combination

Trophies/medals: Bristol Combination Cup winner, Two Bristol Combination losers medals, Gloucester County Cup winner, part of the team that won back the Oggyman.

How did you come to join Dings Crusaders: Dad forced me to even though he was always late to take me to matches

Worst rugby moment: Losing the Combination Cup final to Avonmouth in which we had to hand over the Oggyman.

Best rugby moment: Winning the Combination Cup by pumping Weston-Super-Mare followed by winning back the Oggyman.

Toughest opponent: Joe Marler (Harlequins) /Darren Jacques (Redruth)

Toughest team: Redruth are always a good test both home and away

Favourite away ground: Clifton as it’s just down the road and everybody loves a derby game

Funniest coach trip memory: When Coler and Baggy unhitched a boat at the Reading services and tried to tie it to the coach, failed this so pushed it to the top of the highest hill they could find or when Fayme the old physio, fell down the stairs on the bus after drinking her Bacardi, coke and another liquid which will remain nameless….

Favourite Dings player to play along side and why: Current player has to be Wheeler, always makes you give that little bit extra. Of all time, Barrie Cole, taught me a lot about playing National League rugby and was always on hand if I needed advice during matches and training

Dings player(s) you would have liked to have played rugby with/with more: Steve Lloyd, was pretty tasty in his day and heard a lot of good things about him or Tim Brockett, good friend who always knew how to have a good drink and good singalong!

What sport would you be doing if you weren’t playing rugby: Professional surfer

Well thank you lloyd dog we all know you a little better.

Keep an eye out for the next edition as you never know who it might be
