Match Report and message from Old Redcliffians RFC

This Bristol Derby commenced with all the traffic driven by Reds. But the story of the match was Dings Scrummaging and forward dominance.

An early line break through Tommy Foot was a glimmer of hope or Dings, but despite this, and later Tom Hargan pressing for the line, neither made it through the red wall.
But then, a Dings scrum, powered Harry Hone over to drop for a try 13 minutes in, unconverted.

Immediately, Old Reds return from the restart, a breakthrough from Harry O’Donnell gliding through unchallenged, converted by Ashley Groves put the visitors ahead.
Some signs of cohesion as the Dings forwards slick hands carried through the middle, Drew Turner, to Joe Hawkesby, and Nick English, hands a blur and difficult to keep track of the ball, but just shy of the line, a Reds penalty.

Now Dings punished by more penalties in their own 22, the defence in disarray, allowing another unchallenged line break through Andrew Butler in for another 7, but at the 40 minute mark, a stolen line-out against the head, Will Thompson found himself over the line to close the half.

From the off, 3 minutes in, an early Reds mistake and Jacob Perry takes 3 points.
Later, a clearance kick from Reds, Lewis Oakley ran on and seemed certain to score, but an excellent covering tackle from Foot took him into touch.

Dings hands lit up again, with Ollie Bilton crashing over for 7 more.
10 minutes to go, and Old reds inside the Dings 22. A Line out drive and sustained Reds pressure to the line, Dings held firm, but with Harry Tarling to the bin, Dings kept the pressure on, with a notable huge tackle from Matt Smith.

To end the game, Dings created a rush attack, resulting in a scrum penalty closing the game as Hones football skills at 8 dropped him over again.

From Old Reds: Anon
I feel humbled by Dings Crusaders, not by their efficiency and ruthlessness, but by their magnificent efforts raising a huge amount on behalf of Ellis Joseph.
The camaraderie of Rugby Football shining through once more.
