Steve Plummer announces his retirement.
In his words;
"This is a decision I haven't made lightly, considering many things including not wanting to play for anyone other than Dings, I have decided to hang up the boots.
"I think I have achieved all I can for myself and the team, over 250 caps, 3 years as Captain, 2 promotions and the pinnacle, playing my last 2 games as flanker!
There is nothing more that I can do, so I want to retire on a high.
"I wish Dings all the success for the future and I am proud to have been a part of it UP THE DINGS!"

Our Chairman had this to say about Steve;

Call a Plummer!
News made it to me in the far reaches of North Devon that our renowned and fearless scrumhalf, Steve Plummer, has called it a day, decided to hang his Boots up and spend more time touring the country with his good friend and fellow retiree Lewis Beer.

Steve joined the club to team up with his old school Mentor Allan Martinovich after a Cup Final Game where the Dings Beat Steve and his old club.

In total, Steve has spent nearly 13 years at Dings, amassing a lorry load of Points and even more crucially, hard hitting tackles all around and all over the field of play. He became known more as a hit man as time went on.

Steve was always a major team player, only a nasty Injury to his hand and thumb way back against Bishop Stortford in the old National 2 League, meant that he had to take a couple of years out, but back he came as resolute as ever and also played his part, numerous times, in taking points from kicks to deny at least 2 eventual league winners, not to mention many a local derby where his `Iceman` approach brought him into Dings Folklore.

Amassing over 268 1st Xv Games meant that Steve was awarded his Club Cap 2 seasons ago.

Steve. I hope will stay in touch, but as we all know once a true milestone has been reached, ones mind is hard to break.

Im sure Steve will continue to Visit Shaftesbury Park (with Lewis) and will always be welcomed with open arms
So Steve you have earned your stripes and I'm sure you will have plenty to say whilst you're watching the games
Enjoy Swindon Shopping Centre!
