DINGS welcome channel islanders Guernsey Raiders to Shaftesbury Park in round three of their 2021/22 National League Two South campaign (14:00 pm kick-off). Director of Rugby Stean Williams and his coaching team make a number of changes to the side that slipped to a disappointing 45-19 defeat to Esher in round two.
On-loan Hartpury prop Ash Challenger starts at loose-head, with Nick English retained at tight-head. Tommy Gollop will make his first league start at hooker after impressing from the bench against Esher. Lock Danny Hodge is back in the starting line-up after sitting out last week’s game due to minor surgery and is joined in the engine room by Olly Bilton. Alex Bilton, Josh Wood and Jake Holcombe make up the back-row, while Tom Knight and Luke Arscott are selected at scrum-half and fly-half respectively.
Centre Matt Smith is set to make his 100th appearance for Crusaders, and joins skipper Marcus Brooker in the midfield. Matthew Jones is at full-back, with Tom Hargan and Brad Doggett selected on the wings. Dings opt for a three-two split on the bench, with Tom Anderson, Ben Bamber and Liam Appleton covering the forward places, while Waylon Gasson and Ben Bolster, who is also set to make his 100th appearance for the club, are also named among the replacements.
Dings Knights will also be in action at Shaftesbury Park when they take on Keynsham 2nds in a friendly fixture (15:00 pm kick-off). The Knights name a mixture of youth and experience and will be looking to build on their last run-out against Cinderford United. Prior to these two Dings fixtures, Bristol Bears Women play DMP Durham Sharks at Shaftesbury Park (11:00 am kick-off).
