On a pitch heavy from the previous night's Championship game, Richmond and Dings fought out an abrasive and physical game, with the points allocation finally decided in the last two minutes, when Richmond claimed their decisive fourth try.
Dings opened the scoring with a try from Will Thomson after a pacy break on the right. Richmond levelled the scores with a try earned by the forwards but scored and converted by Callum Grieve, Richmond's man of the match.
Richmond added two more first-half scores, one from the hard working Henry Wills from a smartly taken penalty and one from Jake Mon-son from a lovely Lewis Dennett cross kick.
Dings lifted morale as the half ended, with a try from Harry Tarling who completed a strong line break.
With both defences working hard, Richmond slotted a penalty in the 55th minute to get two scores ahead and then in those final minutes, focused on the try bonus.
Dings were harried into errors and conceded a five metre penalty in the 78th minute. The pack drove forward, the backs joined in, and George Nugent got the touch down.
Grieve converted to maintain an excellent 100 per cent kicking record on the day.
Match Report by Timothy Forester
Speaking to Dings media after the game, DoR Stean Williams added;
"Whilst the score was 31-14 I did not reflect the game. I think it was the best away performance of the season Dings were in the game until Richmond scored 7 points with the last play.
"We were very unlucky not to come away with something from the performance. Unfortunately games at this level are won and lost on small margins and momentum swings that can change games .
"The players competed for the entire game, they can be proud of the performance.
"A great result for the 2nds away at Lydney a tough place to go 5 Points and still top of the league."
