in very difficult conditions, driving rain and high wind, Dings in particular failed to produce any sustained passages of play constantly turning over the ball in good positions.

Redruth opened the scoring after just two minutes with a soft try for wing Thomas Notman, who spun out of a tackle from his opposite number Taylor Stevens to race in under the post, stand-off Paul Thirlby added the conversion for 7-0 to the home side with visitors Dings yet to touch the ball.

On 13 minutes, Thirlby added a penalty for 10-0 with Dings still struggling to get into the game.

Things improved for Dings in the second quarter with full back Mark Woodrow and stand off Mitch Burton finding their range and pinning the home side in their twenty-two.

However, good runs by lock Dave Bufton, flankers Stean Williams and Joe Joyce all ended in Dings conceding possession invariably with unforced errors and half-time came at 10-0 to the home side.

The second half was much the same as the first, with Dings enjoying long spells of territorial advantage, but unable hang on to the ball long enough to pressure the home defence. On 50 minutes, Woodrow hit the crossbar with a long-range penalty and almost immediately Redruth stretched their lead to 13-0 with Thirlby penalty and within five minutes it was 16-0 with another Thirlby penalty.

Injury to scum-half Josh Venner on the hour did not help Dings with Woodrow moving to scrum-half in a reshuffled backline.

Dings were unlucky not to get on the scoreboard when on 68 minutes a quick tap penalty from Woodrow 15 metres from the try line saw him hauled down within ten metres when a try looked certain.

Dings kicked the resultant penalty to the corner, but despite getting over the try line the referee adjudged the ball was held up.

Two minutes later, Dings went close again with a good run from replacement wing Jack Nowell ending just short of the line

Dings miserable afternoon was completed in the final minute when they conceded yet another turnover deep in the Redruth twenty-two and the home side took full advantage driving up field for a try from lively replacement scrum half Greg Goodfellow.
