and proved enough to seal his side a home Charles Saunders Combination Cup semi-final with Avonmouth.
The Bristol side appeared to be heading out of the competition until Edwards came off his wing to take an inside ball and power past several would-be tacklers for a touchdown that tied the game at 8-8.
Steve Plummer's conversion brushed the outside of an upright as the final whistle was blown, but to Dings' delight they went through on the away team rule after being shaded for long spells of a disappointing game.
James Mackay had earlier nudged Weston in front with a penalty before Plummer levelled things after the turnaround.
Home winger James Arnold, making his first appearance of the season after returning from Australia, gave the game a much-needed spark by dashing down the touchline from some 60 metres out for an unconverted try after a Dings move broke down.
But Edwards, who crossed in the first five minutes only to be called back for a forward pass, had the final word with a solo effort to set-up a repeat of the 2010 final which Avonmouth won. The second semi-final will see Thornbury play host to Clifton.
In the Vase, Bristol Saracens booked a semi-final trip to Old Bristolians with a 19-7 victory over St Bernadette's in mucky conditions at Cribbs Causeway. Early unconverted tries from Simon Wright-Hider and Danny Whitford appeared to suggest that Sarries were on course for a comfortable evening. Saints, though, managed to stem the tide, conceding only three more points in the first period as Ian Werrett landed a penalty.
And the visitors, who edged the forward exchanges, hauled themselves into contention with a Richard Shepherd try superbly converted by Dan Harris. But Werrett's boot dominated the final 30 minutes, the fly-half landing two further shots at goal and breaking Saints hearts with a series of punishing long rolling kicks to keep his side at the right end of the field as the clock counted down.
The second semi-final will see Southmead host Bishopston – all games to be played by February 11.
